Hiking holidays in the Tyrol around the Achensee

Whether you wish to view the Achsensee from a vantage point above it, would like to go sunbathing on the mountain or just go for a little walk, the Karwendel cable car is close at hand. After just a five minute ride you will have so many options open to you. In any case you will always have a good panoramic view which in itself is a real experience whenever the weather is clear.

There are more than 450 km of various hiking trails in the Achsensee region to tempt all you “mountain freaks“ out there and there is something for everyone. For example you can go up the Zwölferkopf, using the Karwendelbergbahn cable car in Pertisau, up to the Erfurter Hütte in Maurach with the Rofanseilbahn or walk up to the Gufferthütte in Steinberg.

The Achensee Tourist Association puts on a varied and interesting programme of organised hikes every summer. Participation is free for all visitors who have the Achsensee Visitor’s Card (Gästekarte) and the price without a card is just EUR 22,- per person per hiking excursion.
